Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Meat Processing
Everything you need to know before scheduling your animal
This FAQ section answers the most common questions livestock owners ask before booking with Stratton’s Custom Meats & Smokehouse. You’ll learn how meat sales work under custom-exempt processing, whether you receive your own animal back, how cut instructions are handled, and which species we process. We also explain our mobile slaughter options, recommended scheduling timelines, and realistic turnaround times—so you can plan confidently from drop-off to freezer-ready pickup.
Do you sell meat to the public?
No. Stratton Custom Meats & Smokehouse does not sell meat. We provide custom slaughter and processing services for livestock owners only. We do not process any poultry or wild game.
Do I get my own animal back?
Yes. Your animal is processed individually, and you receive meat from your livestock — not mixed or exchanged.
How do I choose my cuts?
You’ll complete a cut sheet for your animal before processing. Our team is happy to answer questions and help you make selections.
What species do you process?
We process beef, pork, lamb, and goat. However, we do not process any poultry or wild game. Availability may vary by season, so scheduling ahead is recommended.
Do you offer mobile slaughter?
Yes. Our mobile slaughter service is available for qualifying livestock and locations within our service area.
How far in advance should I schedule my appointment? How long will it take to get my processed animal back?
Processing slots fill quickly. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure your preferred date. Call in advance—your appointment ideally should be scheduled months in advance or as soon as possible.
